Deborah Eid - autoharp, harmonica, vocals - as an international student, Deborah started her stage experience with performing troupes in Brazil and Uruguay. She is our leader into the world of international repertoire. Deborah is a song catcher, having attended Wheatland Music Festival for 23 years, and her work in the labor movement and social justice complement her commitment to roots music performance as social change work.
Rachael Eid-Ries - viola, mandolin, percussion, and vocals - At age 18, the oldest of the Eid/Exoo kids, she is our rising star. Rachael has developed her singing and playing abilities in the Grand Rapids Public Schools music programs, Grand Rapids area theatrical productions, and the Kinsfolk band. She has also had additional intensive training with GR Youth Symphony, St. Cecilia's Music Society and at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in viola, and Augusta Heritage Workshop in W. Virginia on mandolin. She blends her viola playing in great harmony with our arrangements. Even though she has only played mandolin for three years, she is already picking the classic tunes up to speed with the veterans and the hot young bluegrassers. She has extended her mandolin skills to strong work on the fiddle. She also sings kickin' lead vocals on songs she has added to the band repertoire.
Joshua Eid Ries, age 14 - Under his own motive Josh has sprung up from occasionally pitching in on percussion with Djembe an african hand drum, Bodhran an irish drum and a bit of enthusiastic bass playing to becoming a quite accomplished self-taught lead guitarist of kinsfolk. With a few solos, both guitar and vocals, Josh has become a well rounded folk-acoustic musician.
